HARVGREENBERG@GMAIL.COM BEHIND THE SCENE: I traveled to Jordan for the once in a lifetime opportunity to see Petra and although it was truly one of the most amazing places I’ve ever seen, it was this photograph of the Dead Sea which stole my breath. It was mid-July and a sandstorm had blown through creating a diffuse haze across the Dead Sea. I had a feeling the floating particles in the air might result in some fabulous light as the sun began setting towards the horizon, so I grabbed my camera and tripod and quickly setup the shot. The magic of the evening really came together when this woman strolled into my composition. Sometimes the human element can be a distraction from nature’s beauty, but in this case, I think it created a greater sense of balance and focus to the image. As for the early evening light, well that was indeed, breathtaking.
