The weather began changing unexpectedly as dark clouds and strong winds barreled into Port Phillip Bay. My light was vanishing quickly so I scrambled to get my gear set up for the shot. I opted for a long exposure which contributes to the mood of the composition. The wind-swept surf pounding the sea stacks and towering cliffs was intense and also adds a real sense of drama. Despite the approaching inclement weather, the view was beyond breathtaking and my memories everlasting. HARVGREENBERG@GMAIL.COM BEHIND THE SCENE: It was a cold and stormy morning when I hiked up to St. Mary Falls in Montana’s majestic Glacier National Park. The trail was crowded since these particular Falls are a popular destination for photographers. Before I set up my gear, I always spend a good amount of time surveying the landscape for the most ideal composition and then I wait for the light. Although the Falls are quite beautiful, my eye was most captivated by the downstream river, just opposite the Falls. Several hours had passed and the skies weren’t being kind, but I stuck it out because there’s nothing better than shooting a clearing storm. Finally the suns golden rays found their way through the cloud cover, miraculously appearing in the valley between two distant mountains. I love how the leading lines of the shoreline and foreground rock draws your eyes towards the setting sun. This photograph literally came together right before my eyes, all of nature’s most beautiful elements in complete harmony.
